Revived! Jan. 24th, 2011 @ 06:35 pm
I'm reviving this community.

Recently I've been thinking of writing a book about being bisexual and pro-life; I've got a few thousand words of it written, but it keeps veering off in different directions. I don't know if I should just go chronologically or what.

How are my fellow GLBTQ pro-lifers doing? :D

Presidential election Sep. 22nd, 2008 @ 11:50 am
So I'm sitting here staring at my absentee ballot, and I just don't know for whom to vote. I am very worried about civil liberties and gay rights so I don't like McCain. But I just can't stomach Obama's stance on the Born-Alive Infants' Protection Act

Who are you all choosing? Feel free to comment anonymously with your reasoning.
Current Mood: uncomfortableuneasy

Hi All!
I just created a community at

Help a Pro-Life Film-Maker - Vote for His Film! Dec. 7th, 2007 @ 03:39 pm
Hi everyone, I’d really like all pro-lifers here to support a pro-life documentary maker who is also a good friend of mine, John Hetherington. He’s been working on a documentary that I think could easily become the Inconvenient Truth of abortion. He’s already interviewed prominent pro-life and pro-choice figures – including Canadian figures Joyce Arthur and Dr Henry Morgentaler. This film could be BIG.

John is currently entered in a short film competition which if he wins would give him an internship in England with Academy Award Winner David Parfitt and the Trademark Films Production Team…. Imagine how that could boost his odds of having his documentary recognized on a wide scale – and getting our message out there!

So here’s what I need ALL of you to do: Go to http://shortfilm.projectbreakout.com and register so that you can vote. Then find ‘A Word on the Street’ by John Hetherington and vote for it. (http://shortfilm.projectbreakout.com/media_page/entry_id/45)

You can vote for it 15 times per day – EVERY DAY!

John is currently hanging around 5th and 6th place but in order to pull into the top three (top 3 per week move into the finals), he has to have at least 50 to 60 people who vote 15 times every day. Please be one of them and pass this on to ALL your pro-life contacts and pro-life friends. Let’s make this happen and help our pro-life brother give voice to the voiceless!

(To see more ‘A Word on the Street’ videos (his precursor series of cross-country street interviews), go to www.youtube.com/abortedartist )

Risks of abortion

Research published in The Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry in January has shown that even women without past mental health problems are at risk of psychological ill-effects after abortion. Women who had had abortions had twice the level of mental health problems and three times the risk of major depressive illness as those who had given birth or never been pregnant.

This research has prompted the American Psychological Association to withdraw an official statement denying a link between abortion and psychological harm.

Abortion exposes women to higher risk of depression

Although it has been long established that women with a history of mental illness are at greater risk of further instability following an abortion, the New Zealand study established for the first time that abortion could trigger depression and other illnesses in women with no mental problems in the past.

The research prompted the American Psychology Association to withdraw an official statement which denied a link between abortion and psychological harm.

However the letter was challenged yesterday by Abortion Rights who said that the doctors were exaggerating the risks. “On average one in three women will have an abortion in her lifetime, it is thus a clear exaggeration to say that all these women suffer long-term psychological trauma,” said Anne Quesney, the director....

The campaign for change in the law will be advanced next week by Nadine Dorries, MP for Mid-Bedfordshire, who presents a bill to Parliament calling for the limit to be reduced to 21 weeks, and for a cooling off period after a woman has decided to have an abortion.

A cool-down period for abortion. You know, like the ones they keep tacking onto buying guns, except that when your intended quarry is a helpless baby instead of a maniac stalking you, the cool-down period is an intolerable infringement of civil liberties.

The pro-choice lobby has responded saying there is already an unacceptably long delay in getting abortions on the NHS forcing many women to pay to go privately.

Obnoxious button seen yesterday: "May the fetus you save be gay."

Is that supposed to be like a punishment for the fetus-saver or something? If I ever do save any fetuses, it's bloody fine with me if some of them are gay. Interesting that it's not "may the fetus you save grow up to be gay"...if they think fetuses are already gay, that's giving them (the fetuses) humanity on some level.

» Video link corrected
If you're resourceful you may still have found a way to get to the video link I posted yesterday, but I apparently goofed and added an extra http in my url when posting it. Geek girl I apparently am not :P

If you missed it the first time it's:
http://www.nickcannonmusic.com/index_main.html (click on your medium of choice to view the video, otherwise you'll just hear the song and as I said, the video tells the story)

As to the link for his bio, it's: http://www.ejams.com/nickcannon.htm

Someone just posted this on prolife. One of the moderators has even commented in support, and said nothing about the hateful anti-gay nature of the article. It makes me sick, it makes me want to drop that community and never look at it again. I'm so upset - why should I have to read all that gay-hating nonsense when I go to read a community about ABORTION? It makes no sense. I don't think many of the members understand how hurtful it can be to just read those words.

Does anyone else want to join me in writing a letter/post to the moderators of prolife requesting that anti-gay material be removed/forbidden from prolife?
